Patriots Match Best Victory Run From Tom Brady Era with Win Against New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five TDs during the current campaign
New England equaled their best victory streak since the Tom Brady era as they beat AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the Patriots claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
Quarterback Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
The win bolsters the Patriots lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The Jets had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' first possession
But the New England answered in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two short rushing scores before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"That was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of Henderson. "He wants to be outstanding."
Justin Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
