BF6 Players Concur: Missions Are Overly Demanding
The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are protesting against several of the title's hardest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced resorting to custom matches made via Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how demanding these challenges have become.
Understanding BF6 Assignments
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the periodically changed everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four classes of assignments, but although many merely grant outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.
Several of these locked weapons could shortly earn a place on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration via Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This mission is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Task
A different forum member highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly Operation Firestorm at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.
The Bypass
Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.
But when completing the missions in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for finishing these in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because if they're not, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
For now, the community continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous battlefield assignments, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
